Please
do not have your cat declawed.
Here
are good reasons why:
-
Declawing is
mutilation of a cat's paws for the sake of human convenience.
-
The physical
effects can be detrimental to a cat's mobility and defense.
-
Psychologically,
it can devastate a cat's personality.
-
Frustration
from the loss of the claws can induce extreme timidity, sullen reticence,
or aggressive behavior.
-
Many declawed
cats end up biting without warning and eliminate outside their litterbox.
-
The operation
is irreversible and painful during recovery.
-
Declawing is
banned in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany,
Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the
United Kingdom.
-
The humane alternative
is through training to redirect the scratching, and intelligent adjustment
of the home environment (e.g., furniture protection) with respect to a
cat’s basic instincts.
"A
cat without claws is like a bird without wings."
